First Days of Fall

We are enjoying some gorgeous fall weather! Some of the trees are starting to show hints of turning, but I’m not sure how colorful they will be given how dry this summer has been. We could use some rain.

Life has been pretty routine for us so this will be short.

120 YEARS. Mt. Carmel celebrated it’s 120th anniversary last weekend. It was a fun day with plenty of pictures from the past and a potluck dinner after church.

Mr. Wilson McKee was asked to reminisce about our church history. He did a wonderful job drawing from a book about the early church history written by Judge Earl Swann and then moving to his own recollection of people in our church who have touched his life over the years. It was really a good reminder that it takes people who are committed to serving others in the name of our Savior to make a difference. Without that a church is little more than a Christian social club which meets at a nice community center on Sundays and Wednesdays. Mt. Carmel has been blessed with lots of these people over the years. Hopefully those of us who are in the spotlight now are living out their faith the same way.

PUMPKINS. This kids are still picking pumpkins a couple of days a week. Yesterday Jenna had a school related activity which kept her from working so Steve decided to give Nate a try. We were all wondering how Nate would do since Steve had said they would be picking some 25 pounders. When he and Ben got home from working we overheard him saying to Jenna, “It wasn’t too hard of work that I wanted to whine and quit.”
