Fall has arrived, and the cooler weather is finally here! We have had
90°+ weather all the way though Sunday. As a matter of fact, we’ve had
about 85 or 86 days this year where the high temperature was at least
90°. We typically average 48 days like this a year. I’m glad to say
goodbye to the heat and the mosquitoes.
It’s been busy, but quiet
around here the last couple of weeks so this will be short. We are
firmly in that routine where we get up, go to school (work in Vicki’s
case), come home and do homework, and go to bed so we can do it all over
again the next day. Nate has been helping Steve Freeland pick pumpkins a
couple of times a week.
Davidson Academy’s homecoming was last
weekend so the boys were involved in several activities. I felt sorry
for Nate on the day of pep rally. He had bought a five gallon bucket to
use as a drum to add to the noise and then forgot to bring it to school.
Ben
has had some good runs at the last cross country meets. Tuesday we
traveled to Lafayette to watch him run and he set a personal record, 5k
in 19:55. He came in 14th place and got one of the 15 medals awarded.
There were at least 50 boys running that race. (I’m being conservative
here. Ben thinks there were at least 65 boys running.)
Vicki and I
had a fun date a couple of Saturdays ago (the 17th). She had received a
gift certificate for tickets at TPAC so we went to see Evita and
we thoroughly enjoyed it. We went to the matinee so it was still
daylight when our show was over. We had a good time walking around
downtown and ate supper at The Southern Steak & Oyster.
That’s the latest update from our house.
